FANDOM


Originally used in Golf since the 1930's, the term Grand Slam was first applied to tennis by New York Times John Kieran, according to Total Tennis, The Ultimate Tennis Encyclopedia by Bud Collins.

The Grand Slam events (Australian Open, French Open, Wimbledon Championships and the US Open) or the Major's are considered the most important tennis tournament of the calender year with the Olympic Games being considered the "Golden" Grand Slam.
